DIY Mini Winter Wonderland

Though we here in Australia aren’t going to get a white Christmas, why not make a festive one for your home?  White Christmas decorations are the easiest way to bring a touch of the Northern Hemisphere to your home, even when it’s 40 degrees outside!

This terrarium is a festive and fun twist on traditional Christmas decorations.  It’s quick, easy and is guaranteed to be a talking point for any guests over the silly season.

What You’ll Need:
  • A large glass vase or pot (we used a tall thin one, but anything with a wide enough base is fine!)
  • White vase and candle sand decoration (We used this one!)
  • Three small Christmas trees
  •  A reindeer or creature of choice
  • 1 bag of natural preserved moss

Koch Winter Wonderland

Step 1:  Place some of the moss in the base of your glass vase.  We used enough to fill roughly 1 -2 inches, which looked best for the dimensions of our jar.

Step 2:  Add some of the sand decoration as snow, being careful not to use too much – you want to be able to see the moss underneath.  We sprinkled most of it for an even finish.

Step 3:  Place your reindeer or creature into the display.

Step 4:  Stand your small Christmas trees in the back.  Ours nestled into the moss and stood easily, but this may require a bit of adjustment!

Step 5:  If your glass container has a lid, place it on top to complete your mini winter wonderland.

Voila!  Now you have a festive nod to a white christmas and a gorgeous terrarium that can be changed throughout the year for any occasion.
