Create a Decorative Display with Glass Cloches

Whether you’re hosting family and friends for the long weekend, or just love to decorate in the spirit of the season, these two simple projects are bound to provide plenty of colour and Easter charm for next to no effort! Plus, they’re great projects to master year-round, because the tree technique with ribbons works equally well for a Christening or a birthday party. And the terrarium project doubles as a Mothers Day centrepiece with just the smallest tweak.

Ribbon-Wrapped Easter Tree

Why should Christmas get all the glory when it comes to festooned trees? A ribbon-wrapped Easter tree is a charming and understated option to decorate your home for the Easter break.

You’ll Need:

  • A selection of natural or artificial branches.
  • A vase (we’d recommend using bottom-heavy glassware, but if you’d like to use a more delicate vase, you can also prevent it tipping over by weighting it with acrylic sand). Alternatively you can use a free-standing branch with a base as we’ve done here, which makes this DIY even easier!
  • A selection of satin ribbons or raffia
  • Hand-blown or metallic Easter eggs

What to Do:

  1. Remove any leaves from your tree branches, along with any excess twigs to create a smooth surface to wrap your ribbons around.
  2. Select your first ribbon, and tie it to the base of your branch. Wrap the loose end of your ribbon before winding your way up to the tip of the branch. You’ll need to leave 4-6 inches of ribbon dangling from your branch’s edge.
  3. If using a vase, fill it with sand, before arranging your branches in it. You’ll want to mix up the placement of your wrapped and unwrapped branches.
  4. Now, you can start attaching your eggs to your branches. If you’re using a fine ribbon and hand blown eggs, you can do this by threading it through your egg. With chunkier ribbons or plastic eggs, you may wish to use a hot glue gun.

Easter Terrarium

Want to decorate your home for Easter lunch, but need to spend your spare time preparing the meal? This quick, easy option will impress your guests, but unlike an Easter Sunday roast, won’t take more than a handful of minutes to throw together.

You’ll Need:

  • Artificial moss
  • An assortment of Easter-related decorations: a brightly coloured Easter rabbit or , pine cone Easter tree or fabric flowers are all colorful, eye-catching options.

How To:
This clever craft project couldn’t be easier to execute: simply position your faux grass and Easter decorations inside your terrarium, for an Easter display you can re-use year after year.

We think some of the best Easter themes have something of the fantastical about them. So, we’re also big fans of this lush, green, and spring themed-look below. If you don’t have time for a DIY, this makes putting an impressive Easter table or display together as easy as committing to a green palette and adding whimsical touches, like a topiary tree rabbit or decorative hen. The look of the topiary trees tribute the same fairy tale themes of classics like Alice in Wonderland, bringing a touch of fantasy to your special day.
