Moss poles are plant support poles designed to give climbing and aerial-root plants a textured surface to grip as they grow. Used inside a plant pot, a moss pole can help guide stems upward, support new growth and create a more structured shape for climbing houseplants.

Koch & Co’s range includes a bendable preserved sphagnum moss pole, a coconut fibre bendable pole and a bendable preserved moss pole. Each style offers a different surface texture while the flexible construction allows the pole to be gently shaped to suit the plant and pot.

A sphagnum moss pole or moss stick can be inserted securely into the potting mix beside the plant, then positioned so climbing stems and aerial roots can be guided towards the support. Soft ties or plant clips can be used where needed to hold stems in place while the plant establishes itself around the pole.

For a more textured natural-fibre option, a coconut fibre pole provides another type of plant support for climbing and trailing plants. Bendable styles are especially useful when you want to create a curved or more sculptural growth direction rather than a straight vertical form.
