5 Must-Try Christmas Themes this Year

We’re celebrating the launch of our Christmas Catalogue with some early inspiration for decorating come December – it might be too early to defrost the turkey and bring out the Christmas gift wrap, but it’s not too early to have fun thinking about how you might decorate this year. Christmas is the time of year for gift giving and spending time with loved ones, but let’s be honest: the Christmas feast is quite a highlight too! Whether you’re seated at a long table, kicking it buffet style or making the most of the great outdoors, we’ve got some tips, tricks and tools that you’ll need to dress your table (we’ll leave the turkey to you).

First, you’ll need to choose a theme.  It can be bold, bright or simple and sophisticated – the choice is yours!

Secondly, it’s time to decide. DIY Christmas decorations or instantly done?  We cater to both ends of the scale – order your Christmas decorations online and avoid the same generic Christmas ornaments, or combine pieces to make amazing, eye-catching centrepieces. The key rule of Christmas table decorating is simple: when decorating for Christmas, don’t limit yourself to the tree if you want to create a really immersive yuletide feel!

A vintage Christmas can be luxe and inviting, especially when paired with lots of lush flowers and fragrance candles. Sometimes florals are forgotten at Christmas but this is the theme to really indulge. For something girly and glam, fill an ornamental Christmas sleigh with goodies, and string some Christmas tree lights around key areas of the home. Guests will love the layers of light this creates and the touch of sparkle will brighten everyone’s day!

White Christmas:

To show your guests an artfully decorated Christmas, add some white event decorations to your metallics: a small white Christmas tree, a scattering of white metal jingle bells and Christmas baubles, or a combination of both. For Christmas this year we’re in love with snow effect ornaments, ceramic reindeers, pretty white berry decorations and wreaths – and if that’s not enough there’s always our 1.8 metre long polar bear! White Christmas tree decorations are also a beautiful twist on the traditional red and gold.

For a rustic or traditional feel, pick a few key red and green or gingham elements, like reindeers, stockings, advent calendars and Christmas ribbons, and pair them with natural elements like Christmas wreaths.  To add fun touches to a rustic Christmas, tie the theme together by wrapping your gifts using raffia, jute, or twine string. If you’re leaning towards classic – berries, holly and garlands make a great jumping off point and tie in effortlessly with a strong green and red colourway.

If DIY Christmas decorations don’t fit into your jam-packed holiday schedule, festive flowers look stunning when paired with a fragrance candle for a warm glow. Plus, if you’re looking for candles that can be left on all day, then opt for flameless candles! Flameless candles can be used again and again, making them a great investment.
