Melbourne Int. Flower & Garden Show Prize Winners
This year Koch & Co was proud to support the florist industry by sponsoring The Floral Design Competition with Flowers Victoria. Held in the Great Hall of Flowers the competition called upon entrants to create an events table decoration using at least fifty percent floral and eighty percent botanical material, with sundries from Koch & Co. Our MD Karl Papas joined Matthew Landers and Greg Milner in judging, and noted the “breadth of individuality and passion” shown from the competition entrants. Congratulations to all the entrants are due – we hope it’s an experience every entrant enjoyed, and we hope you’ll take part in future competitions.
THE FLORAL DESIGN COMPETITION
Sponsored by Koch & Co with Flowers Victoria
1ST PLACE
Shane Sipolis from Botanics of Melbourne
With a striking visual impact and beautiful use of varied plants and florals, Shane’s piece placed first. He received a crystal trophy, a $500 Koch & Co voucher and a certificate.
2ND PLACE
Natahlia Brandt from Knoxfield Florist
An imaginative use of materials and interesting structure saw Natahlia’s design win second place. Natahlia was presented with a crystal trophy, a $300 Koch & Co voucher and a certificate.
3RD PLACE
Nici Thompson from Flowers by Nici Thompson
Nici’s arresting and accomplished design won third place. Nici received a crystal trophy, a $200 Koch & Co voucher, and a certificate.
The judging was tough, with other entries showing a range of beautiful and innovative table centrepieces from some very accomplished florists. We’re proud to present their work here in a gallery of entrants.
The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show remains the biggest annual show in the Southern Hemisphere and a horticultural highlight for many. Growers, florists, landscape designers and students all descended on the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens this year, with over 500 exhibitors showing. With some of the most beautiful blooms and foliage the industry has to offer on display, the event attracted more than 100,000 visitors looking for floral inspiration.
