Unfortunately, not everyone has the space to express themselves when it comes to their green thumb. While we would all love acres of garden space to grow all kinds of beautiful things, many of us have to make do with what we’ve got. This is where DIY terrariums come into play, a mini garden for your tabletop to create a fun and eye-catching decorative piece.

It was Vernon Smithers who invented OASIS® Floral Foam in the United States back in 1954. Smithers-Oasis® invented a green sponge like material shaped as a brick that holds water. The construction of the material allows flowers to be inserted and arranged easily and it quickly became the florist’s best friend. It made arranging flowers easier, allowed flowers to drink water for days and simplified transport of flower arrangements.

Making a floral garland out of artificial flowers has multiple benefits. It will give you greater control over the appearance of your project while also allowing you to preserve the garland for much longer than if you used real flowers. Among all of the DIY projects out there, creating garlands is one of the simplest and least time consuming.
